Facebook today began rolling out an update to its Messenger app, bringing the app to version 1.9. The new update includes a number of user interface alterations, as well as a few new capabilities. It also brings the app into direct integration with Facebook’s main app for the first time.
The update adds full emoji support, one-click access to friends’ Facebook Timelines, and indications marking whether or not a friend is active. The app now includes a “last active” indicator displaying the last time a friend logged into the messenger.
The updates are available for free in both the App Store and Play Store.
