Deadline is reporting that comedic actor Dan Fogler (Balls of Fury, Fanboys) has been cast in Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly-anticipated feature Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a new adventure set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. He will join Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol
Fogler will play Jacob, a non-magical individual who Newt Scamander (Redmayne) befriends while on his adventure in New York to find and document fantastic beasts.
David Yates, who directed the last four “Harry Potter” films, will helm the film from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The creator of the Wizarding World, Ms. Rowling was inspired by her character Newt Scamanders’ Hogwarts textbook, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is being produced by David Heyman, producer of all eight of the blockbuster “Harry Potter” features; J.K. Rowling; Steve Kloves, who scripted all but one of the “Harry Potter” films; and Lionel Wigram, who served as an executive producer on the last four installments of the franchise.
Fogler’s career was launched in 2005 when he won the Tony Award for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Since then he has been featured in films like Taking Woodstock and Mars Needs Moms. He has also provided voices for animated fare like Kung Fu Panda and Free Birds. He recently directed and starred in the indie comedy Don Peyote.
Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
