Production on the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War doesn’t officially begin until November, but The Russo Brothers are already down in Marvel’s new home of Pinewood Atlanta getting ready. In fact, the two shared a new image on their Facebook page, simply captioned “rehearsals,” appearing with none other than the mad titan Thanos himself, Josh Brolin. Check out the behind-the-scenes photo below!
Originally a two-parter, Avengers: Infinity War is now the name of solely the third film in the series with the upcoming fourth Avengers film set to feature a different title. Both of the films will be shot back to back, an unprecedented move for Marvel Studios at this point. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who return after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, will direct the features.
It remains to be seen which characters will be the primary focus of the films, though we do know that Captain Marvel will appear in the movies ahead of her solo movie in 2019 and that the film will feature the combined forces of The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will pen the scripts for the two features which directors Anthony and Joe Russo will film entirely in IMAX. Composer Alan Silvestri will also score both of the features. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018. The follow-up will then open on May 3, 2019. Both films are now also confirmed for 3D releases.
