LG has leaked information on its upcoming Optimus 2 smartphone through its own US website. The 3.2-inch, 320×480 touchscreen phone will run Android 2.3. It would get a speed up but still stay modest, with an 800MHz processor instead of the original’s 600MHz.

Like before, the rear-facing autofocus camera shoots at 3.2 megapixels. LG claims that the 1500 mAh battery provides five hours of talk time and seven days of standby. The phone comes pre-programmed with five customizable home screens and app categories, and Swype’s keyboard layer should ship out of the box.

LG has not indicated pricing or when the phone might be available. The relatively slow processor and HVGA screen hint that it will be positioned as an entry level device. It’s CDMA-based and supports 800/1900 MHz EVDO for 3G, which means that the phone could be destined for Verizon, Sprint or a CDMA-based prepaid carrier like Cricket.
