Starting this week, PS Vita and PlayStation 3 owners can now purchase content from the PlayStation Store and Sony Entertainment Network using mobile phone accounts based in the U.S., Sony confirmed.
Users can add to their account via PlayStation Store on PS3 or alternatively through the account management tab on the Sony Entertainment Network site. Mobile payment now joins credit cards payment, prepaid cards and PayPal as payment alternatives.
Sony has not indicated whether the option will be made available to users with mobile accounts based outside of the US.
