Melissa McCarthy is set to be offered a leading role in the upcoming comedy drama St. Vincent de Van Nuys, Deadline reports. She would join Bill Murray in the comedy drama.
Set up through 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment, St. Vincent de Van Nuys will be directed by Ted Melfi, working from his own screenplay, which landed on the 2011 “Black List” with the following official logline:
When a twelve year old boy in need of a babysitter moves in next door to a misanthropic aging retiree whose life mainly consists of gambling, hookers, and drinking, the elder becomes an unlikely mentor to the boy.
McCarthy, who recently starred in Identity Thief opposite Jason Bateman, can soon be seen opposite Sandra Bullock in The Heat, as part of the ensemble in The Hangover, Part III and as the title character in Tammy, a project that will mark her directorial debut alongside her husband and creative partner Ben Falcone.
