HBO has decided not to bring back Enlightened for a third season. The half-hour comedy, created by Laura Dern and Mike White, launched in October 2011 and ran for two seasons.
The show followed the life of Amy Jellicoe (Dern), a well-intentioned employee of a Southern California corporation who, after flipping out and going to anger-management rehab, emerges with a singular, if at times misguided, mission to make her company more responsible.
The show runners where, aware of the potential cancellation, the most recent episode, “Agent of Change,” was designed to serve as both a season and series finale.
