Escape Motions has released Flame Painter 2.0, an update of the developer’s illustration software. The v2.0 upgrade brings in a host of new features, such as smoother antialiasing, unlimited layers and editable vector layers in the Professional edition. Brush options include new Flame, Follow, and Ribbon brushes; presets; Normal, Lighten, and Darken modes; gradient transitions; and lastly, the ability to drag-and-drop brushes from a website.
The interface sports dockable tabs and a fullscreen mode, and canvases up to 40 megapixels for Pro users. Images can be saved either in a native Flame Painter format or as JPG, TIF, BMP, or PNG files. Alternately, graphics can be shared with an online gallery.
The fully-featured Professional edition of Flame Painter is $60. A Personal edition costs $30, and aside from basic feature differences is limited to three layers and non-commercial use. Both versions come in OS X and Windows flavors.
