Christoph Waltz has lined up a leading role in a true crime thriller titled, appropriately enough, True Crimes. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the project will dramatize David Grann’s “Letter From Poland” article that ran in The New Yorker in 2008.
The case, which led to the conviction of Polish writer Krystian Bala, was reopened after going cold by an officer named Jacek Wroblewski. Bala, who had no previously been a suspect, became a person of interest after a murder in his latest novel bore surprising similarities to the actual case.
Waltz, following his Oscar-winning performance in Django Unchained, will take on the Wroblewski role. Although no director is currently attached, the trade suggest that Roman Polanski is eyeing the project
