Sony showed off its new PlayStation 4 console tonight at Thoer E# press conference. Plus the company d emoed and listed upcoming titles for the console. Beyond just the new console, the company also debuted a $299 bundle with a Playstation 3 and the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V title.
Most of the new console was detailed in a press event in February. The PS4 runs custom AMD chips with eight Jaguar cores with embedded Radeon graphics processing. A built-in hard drive gives the unit storage, and has 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a 6x Blu-ray optical drive.
Digital rights management is a bit different than the new Microsoft offering. Disc-based games will not need to “call home” with a mandatory connection. Sony will even allow the sharing of Dices ans the sale of used games. Now Digitally distributed titles require a persistent connection.
PlayStation 4 consoles will be available for $399 and up.
