Logitech has taken the wraps of its new Harmony Ultimate Hub, dropping the remote control, a smartphone into a full universal remote control. According to the company, the device works by turning Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals from a smartphone into commands that control a wide range of home entertainment devices. It is the same Hub that is included with Logitech’s Harmony Ultimate bundle that also works with smartphones, but which also comes with a Logitech Smart Control at additional cost.
Without the cost of the additional remote, both Android and iPhone users can get started with the Harmony Ultimate Hub by downloading the free Harmony Smartphone App from their respective app stores. The app allows users to customize activities and even choose custom icons for favorite channels. Using only their smartphone, users can control up to eight devices including Netflix on game consoles even through closed cabinets and walls.
The Logitech Harmony Ultimate Hub will be sold as a standalone solution for smartphones from August for $100.
