Apple has dropped a trademark lawsuit filed against Amazon over its use of the term “Appstore” for its Android application storefront.
Apple originally contended that Amazon’s Appstore infringed on its own App Store trademark. The lawsuit was filed in March 2011, but both sides have agreed to drop the case altogether.
Of today’s resolution, Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said, “customers know where they can purchase their favorite apps.”
