Toshiba has announced that it will launch a new series of SD memory cards offering the world’s fastest data write speed for the format. The latest edition to its line-up of Exceria memory cards feature a high peak data rate, and are designed to utilize read and write speeds of new digital cameras and other applications requiring large data transfers performed rapidly.
Exceria cards compliant with UHS-II will be available in two versions. The Exceria Pro series will offer photographers a data write speed of 240MB per second, while the Exceria series will write at 120MB per second. The cards are the first in the company’s line-up to integrate a newly-developed controller compliant with UHS-II, the ultra high-speed serial bus interface, to achieve significantly higher data transfer speeds than earlier UHS-I compliant cards.
The new product line launches in Japan in October. Capacities will range from 16 to 64GB. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
