Speaker maker Soundfreaq has announced the Sound Spot, an upcoming portable Bluetooth model. The unit’s lithium-ion battery can run for up to seven hours without a recharge. One notable difference is that the speaker includes a USB port, which can be used to charge any USB-equipped device, even when the speaker is running on internal power.
Bluetooth playback can be controlled using either the source device or the Sound Spot’s touch-sensitive buttons. A 3.5mm input jack allows connecting non-Bluetooth sources. Another twist in the speaker’s design is the inclusion of a 3.5mm output jack as well, which can be used to daisy-chain multiple Sound Spots for greater volume.
The Sound Spot will be available at Target locations across the US on July 23rd for $69, while online orders will begin shipping in 2 to 3 weeks. Initially, all-black and wood-and-white versions will be available. More color schemes are due to be announced later this year.
