Former Community sidekick Donald Glover has inked a deal to write, produce and star in a half-hour comedy pilot for FX.
According to Deadline, which first broke the news, the project, titled Atlanta, will be set against the backdrop of the Atlanta music scene. Glover, who grew up in Atlanta, had been looking for a project that made use of his considerable music skills (he performs under the stage name Childish Gambino).
Glover will exit Community in the fifth episode of the NBC comedy’s upcoming fifth season.
