For the past two years, PlayStation 3 owners have been able to buy the DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket app and watch any NFL game that’s not airing in their area. This year? Not so much.
PlayStation has confirmed that NFL Sunday Ticket will not return to the PS3 this season. A PlayStation representative did not elaborate as to why the app won’t be returning, but Microsoft did make a point of touting its partnership with the NFL for the Xbox One back in May.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has declared they look for the best partners possible and “from a technology standpoint, Xbox/Microsoft — there’s no one better.”In 2011, the NFL Sunday Ticket app cost PS3 owners $340. In 2012, that price tag dropped to $299.95.
This year, people who purchase Madden NFL 25’s Anniversary Edition have a of ways to get NFL Sunday Ticket on tablets and PCs, but not their PS3s.
