Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 soared to the top of the national sales charts its first week in stores, reports Home Media Magazine.
Having earned $1.21 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the No. 1 movie of the year, the film debuted in first place on both sales charts – Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert chart that tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales, and Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart.
It did not, however, manage to get the top spot on Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week ended Sept. 29. Instead, Paramount’s World War Z took first there with Iron Man 3 coming in at No. 2.
After debuting in first place on both sales charts, World War Z dropped to second place its second week on both. Star Trek Into Darkness also slipped a spot to third on the sales charts.
