Paramount Pictures has announced that director Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, starring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, Peter Andersson, David Paymer and Colm Feore, has moved to a January 17, 2014 release. It was originally slated to hit theaters on December 25 of this year. The film will also be receiving a release in IMAX theaters.
Based on the Jack Ryan character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, who passed away this week, the film is a contemporary action thriller set in the present day. The original story, written by David Koepp, follows a young Jack as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.
The new release date has Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opening opposite 20th Century Fox’s horror thriller Devil’s Due, Open Road Films’ animated comedy The Nut Job and Universal Pictures’ action comedy Ride Along.
