It was first reported back in June that Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes were teaming for a sequel to the Friday the 13th 2009 remake, which was followed by rumblings that the studio was considering a “found footage” approach to the horror franchise.
Now Paramount has scheduled the new film based on the masked slasher Jason Voorhees for a March 13th, 2015 release date. It is given that ‘Friday the 13th’ return to Camp Crystal Lake will not be a direct sequel, but another remake entirely.
Ironically the 13th installment to the Friday the 13th series altogether, the new film’s March release date pits it against Disney’s Cinderella as well as Warner Bros.’ In the Heart of the Sea.
