Image processing software maker, Akvis, has announced its release of OilPaint, a program that mimics an artistic application of brush strokes like that of an oil painting. Using a unique algorithm, OilPaint allows users to apply paint-like texture to existing photos, simulating the look of a handmade painting. Featuring a number of preset options, OilPaint can instantaneously transform the aesthetic of a photograph. Users can also automatically process a series of images with its Batch Processing function.
Available for both Windows and Mac OS, OilPaint can be purchased for $50 for a Home version (either as a plugin or standalone); $70 for a Home Deluxe (including plugin and standalone); and a commercial, Business version for $80. A 10-day trial is available for download online.
