At CES 2014LenovoEMC launched its px4-400d network storage array. They were nice enough to share some of the details of the unit with us before the show and we hope to review soon for you LenovoEMC is the joint venture between EMC and Lenovo which was formerly known as Iomega
The product is aimed at the lucrative market for small- to mid-sized businesses. Due to its power and ease of remote management of the LenovoEMC LifeLine operating system, it can serve well in branch offices of larger companies too.
The px4-400d sports Intel’s latest Atom CPU running at 2.13GHz with internal memory to 2GB. These parts along with the drive controller have lead to 25 percent improvement in read/write performance over the last generation,
Storage
The px4-400d also has 6Gbps SATA3 controller with capacity for 4 HDDs and up to 16TB in total storage. LenovoEMC gives you the power of choice by shipping a version without any drives, so you can pick your own; or prepopulated versions at different capacities. Having the four drive bays, which support hot swappable 7200rpm SATA-III Server Class drives, enables RAID configurations, one of the best methods of storage vital data.

The 400d. has 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 more than the previous generation; One USB 3.0, eSATA port and HMDI port.
Why an HMDI Port
I have used more than a few NAS snd SAN devices over the years but during our call they said the HDMI output and it is on a spec sheets too. So Why?
The HMDI port gives it the ability to display video from our local surveillance system. Connect a monitor to the HMDI port to have a live feed from a surveillance camera(s). So no PC needed. Simply by connecting a HMDI display, USB keyboard, and USB mouse, to manage your surveillance system .
Software Support
The LifeLine operating system has support for many great features like remote access, cloud technology, and solid state drive support. Also include are applications from Acronis (Data Backup) and McAfee (Virus).
The LenovoEMC px4-400d the px-400r (Rackmount version) are compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux systems. The system also is localized in 18 languages and certified for Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2, VMware vSphere ESX 5.5, Amazon S3 and other popular storage applications.
