Nintendo has apologized for the delayed European launch of Wii U’s TVii service. TVii is a free television based service which enables Wii U owners to use the GamePad to browse and search for programming from sources they’re subscribed to including cable and satellite channels, video-on-demand services and recorded TiVo shows.
The tablet controller acts as a TV remote offering personalised search, user profiling and second-screen features such as information about TV content, while users can engage with others about what they’re watching through Miiverse, Facebook and Twitter.
Launched in December 2012 in both Japan and North America, TVii was scheduled to arrive in Europe in 2013, but the service missed its planned launch window. As spotted by Nintendo Life, Nintendo has apologised for the delay and promised to deliver an update on its plans in the near future.
“We would like to apologise that we were unable to bring the Nintendo TVii service to Europe in 2013 as originally planned,” the company said on its website. “Please continue to keep an eye out for further announcements regarding this service in the near future.”
