Deadline reports that English writer Jack Thorne, responsible for the various “This is England” series as well as the feature film How I Live Now, has been tapped to write the screenplay for Sandman from a pitch by David Goyer.
Based on the comic series created by Neil Gaiman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to produce the film with hopes that he’ll also star and direct.
Sandman, which launched DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman’s worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic anthology, focusing on the allegorical character of Dream and his brothers and sisters, known as the Endless (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny).
