Quark has released a major update to QuarkXPress, v10.1. The software adds several important features, such as 8,000X zoom, and dynamic guides. The latter appear automatically when objects align with others, have the same width and height, and/or have the same distance to several more objects.
Other additions include HTML5 animations — which can also be applied to apps built with App Studio — and an overhauled books feature, which makes it possible to incorporate multiple layouts into a single work. Books can now also sync indexes, tables of contents, and other design elements, and be exported to one ore more PDFs.
A new Export as Image option can be used to quickly output boxes and partial or complete images as PNG and JPG files. QR code tools now let people change the details of existing codes, and create pixel- or vector-based codes. Mac users have gained the exclusive ability to create custom color schemes for the software’s interface.
The v10.1 update is a free download for existing QuarkXPress 10 owners.
