It was announced last week that FX’s hit series, “American Horror Story” would be adopting a carnival aesthetic for its upcoming fourth season, leading some to speculate that the season may be set around a “freak show,” a la Todd Browning’s 1932 horror classic, Freaks.
Today, series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the plan is to do just that, posting the following on Twitter:

Previous reports suggest that “American Horror Story: Freak Show” will be set in the 1950’s with Jessica Lange already confirmed to be returning (and said to have been practicing her German accent).
The series’ third season, “Coven,” featured an ensemble cast that also includes Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Denis O’Hare, Patti LuPone, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe and Emma Roberts.
