CBS has passed on the planned “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff, “How I Met Your Dad.” The pilot for the series, which stars Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha, Arthur) and features narration by Meg Ryan, may now be shopped around and could potentially find a home at another network.
The spinoff was first announced last October with Emily Spivey (“Up All Night“) and “Mother” co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas writing the pilot and attached to executive produce.
The show is said to center on Gerwig’s all-new female lead, Sally, and her own group of friends with Ryan voicing “Future Sally.”
“How I Met Your Mother,” which starred Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan, recently concluded its ninth and final season.
