Gaming peripheral maker Razer has announced theĀ Junglecat, a combination case and gamepad for the iPhone 5 and 5s. Unlike some alternatives, the controller is designed to be small and thin enough to fit in a pocket. To that end only the bumper buttons are always exposed; a D-pad and four pressure-sensitive face buttons slide out from behind the case. Native iPhone ports and buttons remain accessible at all times.
A companion app is used to remap button functions and scale pressure sensitivity, and can save up to 20 different control profiles. The app is also used to find App Store titles with gamepad support, since not all iOS games make use of iOS 7’s controller compatibility.
Razer is charging $100 for the Junglecat, which should ship in July in black and white versions. People wanting one can preorder at the RazerStore.
