A new comic-book series will look to build on, if not duplicate (heh), the success of TV’s Orphan Black.
IDW Publishing announced on Wednesday an early 2015 release date for a series of comic books that will unspool “all-new stories set in the complex and thrilling world of Orphan Black,” the acclaimed and recently renewed BBC America drama starring Tatiana Maslany.
“Orphan Black, in addition to being a captivating TV series, is a perfect premise for comics,” IDW Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall said in a statement. “And as the second season has expanded the series in exciting new directions, that has only increased the amount of stories we’ll be able to tell in comic-book form.”
IDW will be working closely with Orphan Black producers to expand the series’ world. The first cover image, below, is by artist Nick Runge, and the full creative teams and additional details will be announced soon.
