TVLine brings word that the DC villainess Plastique will be appearing in upcoming series “The Flash.” The site reports this version of the character will be “a fetching young redhead who was a bomb specialist with the Army before she was injured by an IED in Iraq. Since being exposed to the Central City explosion, she can turn any object into a bomb with just a touch of her hand.” They go on to say she could be a potential ally for Grant Gustin’s scarlet speedster, though that remains to be seen.
First appearing in “Fury of Firestorm” #7, Plastique was primarily a villain against Captain Atom and sometimes Firestorm (who could potentially appear in the series as Robbie Amell has been cast as half of the nuclear man). The character also has had ties to both the Justice League as well as the Suicide Squad – could she be showing up on that team at some point on television? Sound off with your speculation below!
“The Flash” arrives from co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, who, along with Geoff Johns, wrote the pilot episode which was helmed by “Arrow” pilot director David Nutter. Grant Gustin will star as the titular hero along with Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father, Detective West, Michelle Harrison as Barry’s mother Nora Allen and many others, including John Wesley Shipp, from the original “The Flash” TV series as Barry’s father.
Set to premiere October 7, “The Flash” will air on Tuesdays this fall.
