Publisher 5PB announced today the PS Vita version of its first North American release, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, will be coming to PS Vita on July 29 via PSN.
Currently available on Xbox Live Arcade, Battle Grounds is a spin-off to the 2D fighter Phantom Breaker, and combines the retro aesthetics of 8-bit brawlers with “modern 3D technology.”
Four of the characters are from Phantom Breaker, Mikoto, Waka, Itsuki and Yuzuha. Additionally Makise Kurisu of 5PB visual novel “Steins;Gate”, is available as DLC.
There are four modes of gameplay available: Story, Arcade, Co-op, and Battleground, with players able to team up with three other players in Co-op or Battleground.
5PB promises that each character comes with its own set of unique styles and “signature moves.” Unlike the game upon which Battle Grounds is based, the characters are drawn in a chibi style, starkly different from the more proportionally appropriate art-style used in Phantom Breaker.
The game will be available as a download on the PlayStation Store for $12 USD in North and South America, and €10 in Europe, with the Makise Kurisu DLC retailing for $6 USD and €5 in their respective territories.
