Quark has released a v10.2 update for QuarkXPress, its flagship publishing software. The code makes significant feature additions, for instance letting people adjust rendering quality for different balances between performance and fidelity. Users can also add notes to projects that are separate from content and exportable as PDFs; redlines meanwhile show where changes have been made, and allow groups to approve or reject them.

More minor features include the removal of limits on nesting anchored boxes, and the ability to import and export hyphenation exceptions. The latter allow exceptions to be spread across projects, and synchronized automatically using Job Jackets. Elsewhere, Quark has solved a number of bugs that were affecting the performance, output, and stability of the software.

The update is free for existing owners of QuarkXPress 10. Otherwise the suite is $849 new, or $349 as an upgrade from QuarkXPress 3 or later.
