“Damien,” a television series cut from “The Omen” film franchise, has received a season order from Lifetime.
The first season – which will run six episodes and debut in early 2015 – follows Damien Thorn, all grown up and “seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny – that he is the Antichrist, the most feared man throughout the ages.”
The press release says he’s an adult, so it sounds like a mix of both Damien: The Omen II and Omen III: The Final Conflict. The 1976 film The Omen found Damien as a youngster, its follow-up found him in his teenage years discovering who he is, while the third film finds an adult Damien fully accepting his destiny.
Glen Mazzara of “The Walking Dead” is acting as showrunner on Damien.
“Glen Mazzara has re-imagined Damien as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original,” says Lifetime EVP Rob Sharenow in a press release.
