Apple Plans to Appeal Blocked Injunction Against Samsung Devices

Apple will appeal a recent court decision which denied a permanent injunction against a variety of Samsung products, according to the New York Times. If imposed, an injunction would prevent several devices — like the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II — from being sold in the US. The financial impact on Samsung would be minor, since the products in question are outdated and/or no longer being sold.

The ruling is connected to a trial that ended in May, in which Apple was awarded over $120 million in damages versus the mere $158,400 granted to Samsung. Apple though had been asking for some $2 billion, making the denial of an injunction a second blow to the company’s legal ambitions. Both businesses have agreed to halt all lawsuits against each other outside the US, but the aftermath of two American cases is still being resolved.
