Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy remained in first place in its sixth weekend of release, which means that it has now been first for three weekends in a row and four weekends out of the six, a record number of No. 1 placings for a Marvel movie.
The James Gunn-directed film added $10.2 million domestically and $11.5 million internationally for a worldwide weekend total of $21.66 million. The domestic total is now $294.6 million, the international total is $291.6 million and worldwide total is $586.2 million.
This weekend saw Guardians of the Galaxy pass Man of Steel domestically ($291 million), The Wolverine internationally ($282 million) and Iron Man globally ($585 million).
Guardians of the Galaxy still hasn’t open yet in Italy, Japan and China. It opens in Japan next week.
