Microsoft has detailed a major Xbox One system update rolling out in October, revealing a suite of expanded features and tweaks in store for the platform.
The forthcoming firmware update overhauls the Xbox One’s Snap feature, giving users easier access to snapped content without having to back out to the Home menu. After applying October’s update, players will be able to use the Snap feature to display friend lists, messages, and Achievement progress in real-time.
The Xbox One’s October update additionally introduces a button command that records the last 30 seconds of gameplay, giving players an alternate input for the formerly Kinect-exclusive “record that” feature. The console’s Media Player also gets a boost with additional codecs and file type compatibility, along with support for a digital TV tuner hitting store shelves in Europe on October 21.
