Audi is looking at bringing the TT-based crossover concept it first revealed during the 2014 Beijing Auto Show into regular production.
During the press launch of the MQB-based 2016 TT sports car, Audi development boss Ulrich Hackenberg said the concept is meant to preview how the company would envision another model in the TT family in the future. By offering a higher-riding version of the TT, Audi is hoping it can appeal to drivers looking for a small, sporty vehicle with greater-than-usual ride height.
Demand for the new TT in Europe is expected to wane compared to the previous model and a beefier version of the TT could help Audi tap into a new part of the market.
