Beginning tomorrow, Xbox One owners will finally get their own Plex client and be able to stream all their media directly to their HDTV.
Plex will be available in the Xbox Live store for Plex Premium subscribers and will be available for Xbox 360 owners “very soon.” The Xbox client connects to your home Plex server (available for Mac, Windows, Linux and BSD) that streams videos, music and photos. There are already clients for Android, iOS, Roku, Fire TV and Chromecast.
According to Chief Product Officer Co-Founder, Scott Olechowski, the Xbox platform “happens to be the platform most requested by Plex enthusiasts.” The client supports Kinect and gesture functionality and adopts the Xbox interface design.
While the app will be available tomorrow for free for all Plex Premium Subscribers ($4.99 a month, $39.99 a year, or $149.99 for a lifetime subscription), it will be available in the future without a subscription for a one time fee.
