WGN America President Matt Cherniss announced today that the new network has ordered a second season of critically-acclaimed original drama “Manhattan,” whose season one finale airs Sunday, October 19 at 10pm ET.
Created and written by Sam Shaw (“Masters of Sex”) and directed by Thomas Schlamme (“The West Wing”), “Manhattan” is set in 1943 at the time of the Manhattan Project, the secret US government initiative to bring some of the brightest scientific minds in the world to the New Mexico town of Los Alamos in order to design and build the atomic bomb.
“‘Manhattan’ represents the kind of high-quality original series we aim to deliver at WGN America, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the show’s widespread critical acclaim and its loyal audience,” said Cherniss. “Sam, Tommy and the talented cast and creative team have so brilliantly brought to life the world of the Manhattan Project and we can’t wait to see what secrets and surprises await us in season two.”
“Manhattan” stars John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, Daniel Stern, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Katja Herbers, Alexia Fast, Christopher Denham, Harry Lloyd, Michael Chernus and Eddie Shin.
