nightmanagerlecarreAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC has successfully outbid other networks to partner with the BBC on “The Night Manager,” which will either be a six- or eight-part miniseries based on the 1993 John le Carre novel starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston

“Night Manager” follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine in his new line of work as a night auditor for a luxurious hotel, where he meets a French-Arab woman named Sophie with ties to Richard Onslow Roper, an English black market weapons dealer. Sophie winds up dead after giving Pine incriminating documents, and he goes undercover with British intelligence in a sting operation against Roper to avenge Sophie’s death.

David Farr (Hanna, “Spooks”) will pen the adaptation for Ink Factory, who also produced the recent le Carre adaptation A Most Wanted Man. Both Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Constant Gardener were made into successful films in recent years, but le Carre’s work has been the basis for many successful BBC miniseries before, including “A Perfect Spy,” “A Murder of Quality” and a prior 1979 version of “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” starring Alec Guinness.

Laurie will next be seen in Brad Bird’s 2015 blockbuster Tomorrowland, while Hiddleston has Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror film Crimson Peak on deck before starring in Legendary’s 2016 release Skull Island and 2017’s sequel Thor: Ragnarok>
