Not long after LG took the wraps off the G Flex 2, Sprint confirmed that it would offer the handset in the US, allowing interested customers to register their interest over at its official website.

While Sprint doesn’t provide an exact launch date yet, it says that its G Flex 2 will be available to buy this quarter (thus in March the latest). Pricing details haven’t been revealed, but the new smartphone will likely not cost less than $199 on contract. Sprint will be the only US mobile operator to offer the G Flex 2 in “volcano red” – in addition to an “urban silver” color version that you’ll probably be able to find at other carriers – like AT&T.

The G Flex 2 is smaller than the original G Flex, as it sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, instead of the 6-inch 720p panel of the first model. The new device is, of course, flexible to some degree, while its rear shell features an improved self-healing cover. Also notable is the fact that the G Flex 2 is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, seemingly being the first global smartphone to use this speedy chipset. Other features include a 13 MP rear camera with laser autofocus, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB / 32 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 3,000 mAh battery.
