Shield Daisy QuakeMarvel’s Secret Wars-related announcements have arrived at a frantic pace recently, comprising much of the publisher’s freshly released June 2015 solicitations — which include a wide range of #1s such as “Thors,” “Runaways” and “Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies.”

Once you go beyond the many recent announcements, there’s still some new information worth noting among Marvel’s June 2015 offerings — including a series of variant covers inspired by one of the company’s biggest recent successes.

“Spider-Gwen” was a near-instant hit when the character was first previewed last year, and is now the star of a recently launched ongoing series from Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez. Now, Marvel aims to branch that success into a variant cover theme month for June, with variants including “Gwendusa” (“Inhumans: Attilan Rising” #2), “Gwengela” (“1602 With Hunter Angela” #1), “Iron Gwen” (“Armor Wars” #1) and more on the way.

Marvel’s “Secret Wars” companion anthology series continue to be a place to watch talent debut at the publisher. It was revealed last month in AXEL-IN-CHARGE that Marvel newcomer Donny Cates and Marco Turini were contributing to “Secret Wars: Battleworld” #2, but so are writer David Walker — another Marvel newcomer, known for “Shaft” at Dynamite and DC Comics’ upcoming “Cyborg” series — and artist JJ Kirby.

In “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Skye — spoiler alert — was recently revealed to be comic book character Daisy Johnson. In June’s #7 issue of Marvel’s “S.H.I.E.L.D.” comic book, which takes its inspiration from the TV show, Daisy Johnson is set to make an appearance. The issue, by Mark Waid and Greg Smallwood, sees Daisy (also referred to as both Skye and Quake in the solicitation text), set to team up with her villainous father, Mr. Hyde (a relationship that’s been a major part of the character’s TV interpretation).
