Leak Reveals Stitched Leather Backing for LG G4 Weeks Before Launch

The LG G4 may have leaked far earlier than the manufacturer intended, after a website, said to be a staging area prior to the flagship smartphone’s launch, surfaced. The page is now hidden from view, contained a large number of images showing the G4 in full, complete with the stitched leather backing that appeared in earlier teasers for the device’s unveiling.

The specifications list on the site apparently contained a number of items that are incorrect, suggesting them to be placeholder specifications used before the website is ready for public viewing, and not entirely trustworthy. For example, while it has been confirmed the smartphone will have an f/1.8 aperture for the rear camera, with the company telling Korea IT Times its own self-produced 16-megapixel sensor will be included in the phone, the leaked site instead mentions a 13-megapixel version.

The site also states that the G4 will run Android 4.4.2, an unusual choice considering most flagships opt for a more recent version of Android. An 8-megapixel camera for the front of the device, a removable 3,000mAh battery, and a 5.5-inch display are also touted, with the screen likely to have a QHD resolution.

LG will be launching the G4 on April 28, but it will be making its way to some potential users before that date. 4,000 people in 15 countries will be selected to test drive the G4 weeks ahead of the launch.
