Golden Globe Award winner and Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett is the latest “American Horror Story” veteran set to return for the upcoming season, “American Horror Story: Hotel”. “Hotel” represents the fifth installment in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series and is also set to star fellow AHS alum Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny and Matt Bomer, along with Lady Gaga and Cheyenne Jackson.
Bassett, who was nominated for an Oscar for her leading role as Tina Turner in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It?, most recently starred as “Desiree Dupree” in the recently completed “AHS: Freak Show” and previously as “Marie Laveau” in “AHS: Coven,” a role that earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2014. She is currently in production on the feature films Survivor and London Has Fallen.
The fourth season of the series, “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” set a ratings records for FX as the highest-rated telecast in the channel’s history. Production of the 13-episode “Hotel” will begin in Los Angeles in late summer, and will air on FX in October.
