There will be six new female Autobots that will be coming out soon and join the “Transformers” team. But it’s not going to be in a movie just yet but initially on comics in July this year and probably as a toy line in the latter part of 2015.
IGN reports that producer Hasbro has already confirmed that it has rolled out its plan to develop a shared “Transformers” universe. In the same breadth, Hasbro has also revealed that it is already working with IDW Publishing to craft an all-female “Transformers” team.
The new female “Transformers” characters shall be introduced first in comics to be released in July titled “Transformers: Combined Hunters” mini-series. Hasbro has likewise confirmed that it shall be launching a toy line in the latter part of this year.
Both the comics and the toy line are meant to drumbeat the upcoming fifth installment of the “Transformers” franchise titled “Transformers 5,” projected to be released in 2017.
Hasbro has been receiving clamor from female fans to have female characters in “Transformers.” Sarah Carroll, Hasbro’s senior brand manager, said that the arrival of the all-new female Autobots is something that is only natural.
“Transformers” as a TV and comic series have always included female characters including Arcee and Chromia who were from the early ‘Generation 1’ years of the franchise.
Just recently, an online fan poll helped create the Autobot Windblade, which has been featured throughout IDW’s “Transformers” comics. In addition to Arcee and Chromia, there is also Strongarm who has been featured on “Transformers: Robots in Disguise.
Mairghread Scott, a writer for the animated series as well as IDW’s “Transformers Windblade” comics explained that it is very important for both parents and children to have strong female characters so that they can relate and bridge the love with their kids.
