“Arrow’s” Caity Lotz is officially a Legend. The actress will play the White Canary in the CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” During a discussion with media on Thursday, CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed the casting and that she joins fellow “Arrow” alum Katie Cassidy, who plays the Black Canary in the spinoff series.
Lotz teased the news via Twitter by showing herself in a cast photo and writing “Looking very serious in white.”
Fans of “Arrow” may find this news confusing, as they were led to believe that Lotz’s character, Sara Lance/The Canary, had died on the superhero drama. Answers come via the just-released “Legends of Tomorrow” trailer (below) where Lotz is seen emerging alive from a pool of water believed to be the restorative Lazarus Pit.
Pedowitz also suggested more room for crossover in the new series that pairs with CW superhero dramas “Arrow” and “The Flash.”
“‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ is part of the ‘Flash’/’Arrow’ universe,” Pedowitz said during the call. “Yes, they will live together, as three shows.”
“Legends of Tomorrow” follows a group of DC heroes and villains who ban together to stop an evil that plans to not only take down the planet, but all of time itself. The series hails from Bonanza Productions, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter exec producing.
