It’s a fact: Monsters make everything better. And so DEADPOOL writer Gerry Duggan has infused his Secret Wars series MRS. DEADPOOL & THE HOWLING COMMANDOS with enough monsters to make Battleworld sit up and take notice. To prove this point and to introduce his horrifying cast, Marvel recently asked him to tell fans about each Howling Commando and what makes them so monstrously marvelous.
Shiklah: Queen of Monsters
“She can’t really trust anyone around her, and she’s going up against Dracula, who killed her brothers and her boyfriend Deadpool. She’s strong, smart and with a sense of humor to keep her sane—but does she have a breaking point?”
Werewolf By Night: Hairy Hero
“Jack’s patience will be tested. He and Shiklah will be butting heads. They can’t stand each other, but they’re going to be forced to work together. If Shiklah is Indiana Jones in this adventure, then Jack is her Marion.”
Frankenstein’s Monster: Stiched-Up Soul Man
“Short on brains, but big on heart, Frankenstein’s monster has always been a personal favorite. We will find out what he would prefer everyone call him by the end.”
The Living Mummy: Moldy Mesopotamian
“The thinking man’s Howling Commando. If they were going to dress up and go trick or treating as the Enterprise bridge crew, Mummy would be Mr. Spock. He’s got the wisdom that comes with being old as [expletive].”
Man-Thing: Mighty Muck Monster
“The strong silent type. We don’t necessarily have the real estate to get into what makes him tick, but he has some very fun moments.”
Marcus the Centaur: Stallion Soldier
“He’s a fabulous warrior with powers and abilities far beyond the typical citizen of the Monster Metropolis. He was one of my favorite parts of DEADPOOL: THE GAUNTLET, and continues to steal scenes.”
