Looking‘s Russell Tovey has set his sights on a role in The Night Manager, AMC’s forthcoming adaptation of John le Carre’s post-Cold War novel.
Published in 1993, Night Manager follows a British solider-turned-luxury hotel auditor (Thor‘s Tom Hiddleston) who gets roped into an intelligence operation to take down an internationally renowned arms dealer (Broadchurch‘s Olivia Colman). Tovey and his adorable ears will play a spy named Ogilvey.
The impressive cast also includes House vet Hugh Laurie, Homeland alum David Hareweood, Mr. Selfridge‘s Katherine Kelly and Outlander‘s Tobias Menzies.
The Night Manager likely will be a six-to-eight-episode event series, co-produced by AMC, BBC One (which will air it in Great Britain) and Ink Factory. David Farr (Spooks) will write the adaptation.
Tovey is expected to reprise his role as Kevin in HBO’s two-hour Looking wrap-up movie, which begins shooting this fall in San Francisco.
