Focus Features and Blumhouse Productions have unveiled an extended Red Band Sinister 2 trailer, featuring some new bits of footage to the upcoming horror sequel.
The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit, Sinister 2 follows a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) as they find themselves in a rural house marked for death, the evil spirit of Bughuul continuing to spread with frightening intensity.
Directed by Ciaran Foy (Citadel), Sinister 2 also stars James Ransone and is scripted by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, the duo behind the original film. eOne is financing the sequel with Jason Blum and Derrickson producing and Charles Layton, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and eOne’s Xavier Marchand and Patrice Theroux executive producing.
Sinister, which starred Ethan Hawke, was released domestically by Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, in 2012, and earned over $48 million; the movie’s worldwide gross was $82 million. Look for Sinister 2 to hit theaters on August 21.
