Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight is set in Wyoming several years after the end of the Civil War. The first full-length trailer for the much-anticipated film, the screenplay for which leaked online before production began, follows bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell), who must contend with a blizzard as he tries to bring his prisoner Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to justice.
Tarantino favorite Samuel L. Jackson plays a former union soldier and current bounty hunter—and just one of the many strangers it seems Russell will meet along the way. (The cast also includes Tim Roth, Bruce Dern, and Michael Madsen.) In true Tarantino form, the story of these snowed-in frontiersmen looks like a bizarre, violent, and hilarious pastiche. The Hateful Eight opens with a limited release on Christmas Day, and wide release Jan. 8.
