Google has officially named the next version of its mobile operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The company had strongly implied that Marshmallow would be the final name in a teaser video released last week. In addition to revealing the new operating system’s name, Google made the Android 6.0 SDK available to developers, which contains an updated set of APIs.
This final version takes advantage of newer, more power efficient fingerprint APIs and finalizes the permissions user interface.
Last, Google is pushing out what it says is the final preview version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to developers and testers. Google is expected to make Android 6.0 Marshmallow available to the general public in September or October.
